It’s the end of June and the new hair salon in Manhattan has been up and running for about two weeks.
The New York Times called it “a new kind of salon,” noting that the owner is “the first woman to run a salon in the United States.”
But a few days later, the salon’s Facebook page was filled with people sharing their love of the new salon’s hair and its style.
One person even posted, “This salon is the new way to do hair.”
“This hair salon is my new favorite hair salon,” wrote another, “the hair is great, the service great.”
But many of the comments also seemed to take a less personal approach to the new hairstyle.
One commenter wrote, “The hair is a good mix of natural and natural style.
It is very much a new style that can work for anyone.
It will suit any age, however old you may be.”
But another person said, “Not so sure about this hair.”
The salon is one of several in the city that have recently opened their doors to women.
Earlier this month, Brooklyn’s Bikini Salon opened its doors to its first women.
In New York, the city’s newest salon, “Glam,” has a female clientele.
But for many in New York’s city, the new style is a little too trendy.
“The new trend is so trendy now, it’s almost become a cliché,” said Lisa Mottola, a freelance journalist who covers the city.
“I think people are taking it too seriously.
It’s very trendy and it’s a little bit too crazy for what it is.”
And many of those who share their views are not women.
Some people on Instagram have posted photos of themselves with hair that is far too short, long, and styled like a man.
“My hair is too short and it looks like a dude.
It doesn’t look natural.
And it’s not flattering,” said a woman named Rachel, who goes by Rachel D. On Instagram, she said, she’s seen men with long hair and women with short hair.
“And it’s so flattering to men to be so short, but not to women,” she said.
Some commenters on the Instagram account also called out the salon for being too “hippy.”
“I don’t think you can just take your clothes off and wear them like you would in the store,” said another woman named Taryn, who went by Taryn K. “You’re a woman in your own right and you should be wearing your clothes,” said one man named Andrew.
“Why do you think I get to wear my hair in this way?”
“The most annoying thing I hear is when a woman comments on my hair, ‘I hate that,'” said another commenter named Liza.
“But it doesn’t seem to bother me, because it’s just what I wear.”
Some commenters have also pointed out that a lot of the customers are women, including a group of people at the salon that wore short haircuts.
“Some of these women are dressed as men and some of them are dressed up as women,” said the salon owner, Taryn.
“So I’m not trying to get them to dress like women.”
Taryn and other salon owners also have a message for the hair industry: Keep it real.
“We have the best customer service in the industry and we can’t do anything about the hair,” Taryn said.
“If people think they’re going to get to feel like they can go anywhere with their hair, then we can do whatever we want to do.”
For some, the trend of men wearing hair extensions may be just another example of how a new hairstyles industry is taking over their lives.
But other women are not so sure that the new haircut is a thing.
“It doesn’t really fit me at all,” said Rebecca, who asked that her last name not be used for fear of retaliation.
“This is a way of saying that I don’t want to look like a woman, that I’m too skinny.
I’m just too big.”
For the New York salon owner who started the new trend, the hair has been a way to celebrate his “beauty.”
“For a long time, I’ve just been wanting to feel beautiful and to be confident and to feel that I was doing something special,” said Taryn D. “Now I feel like that’s a reality.
And I can just be who I am and I feel good about myself.”
